Another Wasted Rose - Sharif

All Access Magazine described Sharif by writing; “A silky voice, cheerful melodies, creative musicianship and steadfast songwriting make ‘Kisses and Lies’ a well-rounded, enduring record from beginning to end.”  Sharif's songs have made their way onto compilation discs alongside bands such as Jack Johnson, and the Dave Matthews Band. Blending together rock, folk, acoustic and perhaps a little country (Did I just say that?) "Another Wasted Rose" should soon become a classic. Smooth melodic lines are followed through with a skillful guitar accompaniment that results in the ultimate "chill" song. If I could only purchase one cd for the year, this would be it.

Doc & Dawg - Doc Watson & David Grisman

Doc Watson and David Grisman stand tall as two legends in the acoustic music world. Doc's flat picking genious teamed up with Grisman's mandolin virtuosity come together to create an aural explosion. The songs on this disk were recorded primarily at Grisman's home in California. Recorded with only a guitar and mandolin, music never sounded more organic. Though the recordings were made over a span of four years, the album has a cohesive sound. The over all sound is a mix between bluegrass, folk and 1960's singer-songwriter. I highly recommend Doc & Dawg to any acoustic lover.
